Rest won't fix your injury...

Updated: May 24, 2022

Why do injuries happen?

Injuries occur when the forces acting on the body exceed its current capacity.

This can be from a single incident or an accumulation of repetitive strain over a period of time. When injuries happen, the tissue's capacity for handling load is decreased.

If not rest, then what will fix my injury?

Resting may improve symptoms, but it doesn't re-strengthen the tissue back to its previous form. This is why when you try returning back to activity, you can have another flair up.

The goal during rehab should be to progressively strengthen the injured tissue beyond its old capacity, effectively making you more resilient.
